The Epstein Conspiracy—It's Almost Real
Almost...
“I’m not,” says everybody, “a conspiracy theorist.”
But it turns out, everybody is.
Social media has certainly delivered credulous reports of the “tips” received by the FBI about Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein raping young girls and then burying them, variously, on Trump golf courses and on Epstein’s New Mexico ranch. Oh, yes, and possibly… Jon Benet Ramsey.
Of course, the “Epstein files,” chronicling the unbridled and unreflective life that late he led, might seem to prove there is a conspiracy, if not necessarily a murderous one. Large numbers of wealthy, influential men—indeed, among the wealthiest and most influential—gather to…well, it certainly seems like it might have been very, very bad.
These files have provided something of a universal theory field guide to the prerogatives and license and disrepute of the mega elites. Even the mega elites who somehow did not get an invitation to Epstein’s house have joined in the consensus that his guest lists represent the kind of collusion and entitlement that looks a lot like conspiracy.
